Where We Are

After searching for about three years we had almost given up when John spotted the ad in the Glasgow Herald. Kintyre is an area we didn’t know terribly well, although we had visited it on our island hopping holidays as a jumping off point for Gigha and Islay. We had also been to see a couple of plots here earlier but they were too small for our ambitions to grow food. This one is the former orchard and tennis court of Glenreasdale House and extends to just over an acre.

Our nearest big town is Tarbert but we also use Campbeltown and Lochgilphead. Whitehouse is pretty close to the Kennacraig ferry terminal in a village with a telephone box, bus stop and pillar box. Click here for a map. From there you take the farm roads up to Glenreasdale House and we are the triangle of ground on the far side. (The map shows the circle on the farm half way up. If anyone knows how to move it, please let us know.)
