When the delivery driver from Rowan Timber wouldn’t even attempt to bring his lorry in through the Lodge gates we knew we were in for some fun! We were rescued by Alasdair Sloan’s dad, Len, who came with tractors and trailers in between visits to the dentist. Al himself was busy becoming a father. By the end of the day we had everything moved up the farm road and stored around the site.
Meanwhile, Jock and Campbell from BT had arrived to finish the connection. It didn’t work! Naturally, they assumed that there was a break in the underground cable which we had installed. After much testing, it turned out that the problem was in the overhead line which they thought they had already checked. We made our first call on 21st September to Andrew next door and proceeded to wait for the broadband connection to be activated. This took another month and I think Suse has vented her frustrations about the whole process elsewhere.
It only took a couple of days or so to finish off wall plates and to fit the groundfloor I joists, noggins and edge binders. Diagonals and levels are still spot on. Ready to start the ground floor walls.
Congratulations to Al and family.
Actually, this is not Emily, it’s meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! The mad builder! Viewing the site remotely for the first time. From Emily’s flat in Broxburn. Just delivered wood and blagged Richard into doing the Carnethy Hill race in February. He can push us both up Scald Law!
