It’s so late in the year, we almost didn’t start. Still as sometimes happens, we had a couple of dry weeks in the middle of October and gradually we have worked our way around the various outside and inside structural walls completing the last beam in early November.

When the delivery driver from Rowan Timber wouldn’t even attempt to bring his lorry in through the Lodge gates we knew we were in for some fun! We were rescued by Alasdair Sloan’s dad, Len, who came with tractors and trailers in between visits to the dentist. Al himself was busy becoming a father. By the end of the day we had everything moved up the farm road and stored around the site.

Once we’d recovered from the house move, we took another look at the foundation trenches  and didn’t like what had happened to them since they were dug.  With Alasdair Sloan’s help we squared things up and finished the dig.

Monday 25^th September, after Tai Chi, we drove up to Glenreasdale to begin work mending the driveway with Andrew. Sadly, he and Rosie are planning to sell up and it would be a help to them if the driveway were less of a negative obstacle track.

It was a big disappointment to meet Julian from Genasys on site, and to discover that we couldn’t have hydro power (the stream had dried up) or wind (too much turbulence from the trees).
